I’ve always been fascinated by this type of beer bottle top…… as it goes, it’s as good an excuse as I can find to drink beer—– as if I needed one, Cheers C.T.

I found a similarly stoppered bottle and put it on the blog a while back. It is a fascinatingly complicated way to do something that otherwise can be done very simply. It’s like some designer sat down and said “hmmmm…I reeeeeally need to think hard about how to seal up this bottle…reeeeeally hard.”

Or maybe it was a beaurocrat instead of a designer…

Yes I remember seeing it…. I think it was a(complex) way of ensuring that you did not lose the stopper after consuming some of the beverage from the bottle . . . . .

Rowland – have you seen the Farchiono Il Casolare unfiltered, extra virgin olive oil in 1 litre bottles with a similar stopper design. It has a certain retro-appeal with a nicely designed paper label and is good value here in UK?

Any thoughts?
