The behaviour of Johnson and his staff has been unforgivable but what concerns me most is how it will affect the public’s attitude to any precautions that we should take. This is a tricky one as there are many people who will think.: ‘I’m not going to do what these dishonest imbeciles suggest because they’re not sticking to the rules.’ I do have some sympathy with that feeling of resentment.
However I often see idiots doing things that are illegal and dangerous but I feel no compunction to imitate. Try thinking about it like this – the Govt have been advised by the BMA about mask wearing and social distancing. Unfortunately they are too stupid/arrogant to take this advice for their own benefit, and also clearly too selfish/arrogant to take precautions to protect others.
So just like your parents probably said to you at some point- ‘just because they put their hand in the fire doesn’t mean you have to, as well.‘
