Builders . . . . pah!

I have been recently raging about the John Legend song (remake) where we here a plea to builders. p-lease! If we have to wait for the builders to ‘build a new land’ as the 70’s hippy philosophy of the song puts it, what would happen?

It would be delivered well past the deadline-if at all, cost three times the estimate, and not be what we asked for in the first place!!

Wake up, everybody ? . . no, go back to sleep.

I know that it was written in the mid 70’s but it’s not some great soul anthem, really, is it?
The world has changed
So very much
From what it used to be
There is so much hatred
War and poverty, whoa, oh
So war and poverty started in the ’70’s?! Hmm

Wake up, all the doctors
Make the old people well
They’re the ones who suffer
And who catch all the hell

But they don’t have so very long
Before the Judgment Day
So wont’cha make them happy

Before they pass away

Pass me the Soma, please!

Wake up, all the builders
Time to build a new land
I know we can do it
If we all lend a hand

The only thing we have to do
Is put it in our mind
Surely things will work out
They do it every time

Now this may be a little unfair(!) but my experience of builders makes me think that if we have to depend on them to ‘build a new land’ . . . it’ll be a long  wait….it won’t be what we asked for and it’ll cost a lot more than we were told!

BUT the worst thing of all is that I can’t stop singing it!!!
