I read this today.
‘I am looking for someone to create a artistically appalling web sight’
The use of the wrong word for ‘site’ is funny enough— but that typo and the lack of that single vowel is priceless . . . .
I think we only use the adjective ‘bated’ in one context- ‘bated breath’.
I’m wondering, whether there any other adjectives that have such a ‘unique’ role. Any ideas?
Now I know that I complain constantly at the US habit of changing nouns to verbs: diary, party, journal. I’ve recently come across a new example that goes the other way: from verb to noun a ‘capture’ – – used frequently in reference to digital photography on redbubble in the form ‘great capture’ Sorry I know language is a ‘living breathing being that changes’ but this I do not like . . . . . .
